The Bear’s Den Classic is proud to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. As one of the leading causes of death in the United States, it is no secret that suicide has impacted lives of many people. All proceeds from the event will be donated to this cause.

The “Bears Den” was the name given to the basement where a group of Chicago kids gathered to guzzle Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, play NFL Blitz, and watch the movie Waiting on repeat. It was a place where great and lasting friendships were forged. As adulthood took this group to new and exciting places, the opportunities to come together became fewer and farther between. Thus, in 2017 the Bears Den Classic (BDC) was created to bring the group back together and to celebrate the friendships that have endured through all the challenges and triumphs of life.
In 2020 with the growth of the BDC, came an opportunity to raise funds in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and support this essential cause. In September 2021 the BDC became an official event for the AFSP.
As the BDC continues to welcome in new participants each year, the mission remains grounded in celebrating friendship, raising funds and awareness for AFSP, and providing an unforgettable golf experience!
